This is the Official Website of the Australian Wado-Ryu Karate-Do Academy the original home of Wado Ryu Karate Australia. Our organisation is a member of the Australian Karate Federation since its inception. Today our organisation has established Dojo’s throughout the Eastern Suburb of Victoria.

Australian Wado-Ryu Karate-Do Academy became an affiliated member of the Wado-Ryu Karate-Do Academy headed by the chief instructor M. Shiomitsu 9th Dan Hanshi. Shiomitsu Sensei travels regularly to each of his affiliated club to conduct courses, grading’s and most importantly maintain a uniform standard.

What is Wado Ryu Karate

Wado Ryu Karate is distingushed from other Japanese karate style by its unique yielding nature, a form of soft energy blended with sheer, hard force in its techniques. Besides primary punching and kicking techniques Wado Ryu students learn how to use body shifting to neutralise or deflect an attack, thereby causing the attacker to lose balance and to become more vulnerable to a counter attack.
